Fanatec have just unveiled their new upcoming BMW M3 GT2 steering wheel which fits onto the ClubSport wheel base unit the same as their F1 wheel using a quick release system. Fanatec are aiming to release the BMW M3 wheel by December 2011 so just in time for Christmas.
The wheel was demonstrated by Thomas Jackermeier of Fanatec and BMW racing driver Dirk Adorf apparently showing the Fanatec wheel being used in a real BMW race car before being fitted to the Club Sport base to use in a sim.
We like Fanatecs idea of having one wheel base for which you can buy multiple different types of wheels for rather than having to buy a complete new wheel and base, and sometimes even pedals every time you want a new wheel. Thrustmaster are now also using this system with their T500RS and Ferrari F1 wheel add on.
Once released you will be able to purchase the BMW wheel and ClubSport wheel base from Fanatec’s WebShop at Fanatec.de
