New iRacing Build Released

iRacing have now brought out their new build for Season 1 of 2012, the update was released on 30/1/2012. The biggest feature of this release is the addition of the new tyre model for four more cars, the Radical, the Star Mazda, Riley Prototype and Williams F1. This now brings the amount of cars in iRacing using the new tyre model to 18. All these cars should now create smoke from the tyres when wheel spinning or lock up occurs. Improvements have also been made to the existing cars featuring the NTM such as more realistic tyre damping forces and tyre wall stiffness. Here is the complete list of iRacing cars now using the NTM:

Chevrolette Corvette

Chevrolet Impala

Chevrolet Impala Class B

Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Chevrolet Silverado

Ford GT

Honda HPD ARX-01c

Legends Ford '34 Coupe

Legends Rookie

Mazda MX5 Cup

Mazda MX5 Roadster

Radical SR8

Riley Prototype

Skip Barber

Spec Racer Ford

Star Mazda

Street Stock

Williams F1

Big updates have also been made to the Spotter (the guy who tells you when there’s a car to your right/left, your low on fuel etc). They will now supply you with much more information like they would in real world racing. Your spotter will now inform you about things like engine smoke, damage to the wheels or engine and what the current situation is with the pace car. He will tell you if you need to serve any penalties to avoid being disqualified, if there’s any cars stopped or running slowly ahead of you and whether or not the car ahead of you that your racing is for race position. You’ll also have the option of them telling you your times at the end of each lap which in addition to being informative may also serve as a good motivational tool for going faster and faster.

Other new build features include a much needed improved and more noticeable aerodynamics drafting model plus brake temperature modelling that will result in brake discs glowing when they get really hot, this should look particularly good in night races.
