Playseat RBR 1 Red Bull F1 Simulator Rig

Here is a preview of the up coming Red Bull racing sim rig. Playseat are getting ready to launch their new RBR 1 race game simulator, due out in September 2011. First impressions are that this is perhaps one of the best looking sim rigs made to date with a very sleek, high tech appearance. It’s easy to see the Formula one influence with the seating position designed to authentically replicate that of a real F1 car, the driver almost lying down.

The pedal position will be reach and tilt adjustable, and the wheel will be height and reach adjustable. Therefore it should be easy to find a driving position to suite you providing you don’t mind the general low down, sat back style. If you race with a monitor or TV on a desk however, you may find the seating position a bit too low causing you to always be looking up.

Playseat say the rig is compatible with all wheel and pedal sets currently on the market and will have support for a Logitech G25/G27 shifter. The rig is made with a fully adjustable black coated steel framework and the seat is upholstered with a high quality leather look black vinyl and red double stitching design.

The assembled measurements are (LxWxH) 140x50x88 cm/ 55.1x19.7x34.6 inches with a net weight of 24 kg/ 52.91 lbs.

Playseat claim that the seat has actually been pre ordered by some real F1 drivers though no actual names were mentioned. The rig is officially endorsed by Sebastian Vettel as you’d expect with it being Red Bull branded. If your looking to buy one yourself it could help to be on an F1 drivers salary though as the current Playseat RBR 1 price is around $1,320 making it one of the most expensive sim rigs around. To justify that price it will have to be an excellent rig and feel as good as it looks. If your looking for a high end seat or if you play a lot of F1 sims it would certainly make a good choice. Just imagine this RBR 1 with the new Fanatec or Thrustmaster F1 wheel playing F1 2011, that's about as close as you can get to driving a real Formula One car. For more information visit Playseat.com
